To start off, no. I haven't decided to change the language, it's just merely a German word that has gotten accepted and used by the English language. Along with so many other word coming from Latin, Greek, Spanish, Dutch, French and what not. The main reason the English language is as vast as it is today, is loanwords. To elucidate (make it easier to understand (I like this word xD )) the very meaning of it, "loanword" or "calque" itself is borrowed from the German "Lehnwort" and the French "calque". And yes I just copied that from Wikipedia, I may be brilliant but also very lazy so I tend to Google everything instead of think for myself whenever I get the chance.
On to the next letter on the alphabet, the "E". Coming from the German word meaning replacement, "ersatz" is an adjective with two different explanations. The first, (of a product) made or used as a poor-quality substitute for something else. The second one being not real or genuine (like an ersatz emotion). Now, what to write about this word? I could of course start rambling on things like society not being "real" any more as the people in this world keep on focusing about looks instead of the real deal, character. I'm not saying this isn't a good theme to discuss but I believe it's already done too many times and I personally don't really see the importance of complaining about a problem that I myself do nothing for to solve. I don't mind people being superficial -at least in public- as it is just the way people are used to behave. One person simply isn't enough to change that fact and why bother trying when secretly most of those superficial people are quite interesting and caring when put alone in a room without their little army of plastic look-a-likes.
What else? (besides Nespresso of course, because although I've never even tried drinking that, I'm sure that I won't like the taste as I am disgusted by coffee in general) What is made or used as a poor-quality substitute for something else? Perhaps the report I just finished with (not really but I'm past the part of results, leaving me only discussion and conclusion ahead..), but I don't want to talk about school or rather about the things that I should have done for school earlier and are now stressing about because there's only very little time left before I head back to school on Monday. Seriously, my holiday was supposed to be two weeks but all I can remember are some nice hours with friends and the fact that I've seen way too many movies. Two weeks does in fact all but cover the feeling that I have about this holiday. It's not the real thing, at least not in my way of thinking. Holidays are supposed to be fun and all, without the stress of work and school. Quite the opposite going on here, as I work more than on usual weeks, and actually do something for school instead of going there and facebooking while pretending to pay attention to class.
Pff, two full paragraphs I have already filled with telling you what I don't want to talk about. As you already may have guessed, I have absolutely no clue what to write about since I'm even too bored to think about this.
Phew, and I'm back again! Not that you would have noticed would I not have stated this in my blog but I'm just telling you now. Apparently since my eldest brother has left home to have an internship in Switzerland and my youngest brother is off to I have no clue where, I'm the most wanted person in electronics around here. Regular requests for downloading episodes from my mother and questions for the most random things ever are thrown at me. Of course I'm flattered by the fact that they see me as some übergeek with massive technical skills and the ability to fix anything but I actually wanted some free time to relax. Oh well, the obvious satisfaction I get by explaining the easiest things -that they find utmost difficult or just plain brilliant of me- to my parents is also good enough I guess. :)
You expected some story about "erzats", didn't you? Well, let me tell you, that's exactly what you got. A poor-quality substitute for the real thing. Have a nice day you all.
Ps. Yes, the cake is a lie. Just deal with it.
